I picked up my knitting needles again after a hiatus and made myself a cowl out of some yummy yarn I scored for free while at Squam last summer. I tried many times to make myself something out of that yarn since last summer and finally tried again last month. Sean saw me knitting one day and wanted it. There was no way he was getting it, one it was my yarn and two I had spent too much time on it to give it away.
When a cold front came in this week the knitting urge returned with a vengeance and I picked up some chunky 50% wool, 50% acrylic yarn for him in dark blue at the store. I made a quick cowl for him using less than one skein. I used size 13 needles and cast on 20 stitches. I started with 2 rows of garter stitch, then started the pattern. 2 Knit, alternated Knit, Pearl to the last 2 sts and ending with 2 Knit. It’s called a Moss Stitch. I finished it off with 2 rows of garter stitch and seamed the ends together.
I completed his cowl in a day, so it’s really quick and easy when you need something to keep your neck warm. Or, as Sean discovered, to hold your ipod and snacks too. He has it made in his opinion.
